Birds of a Feather

Birds of a feather always stick together, well all birds stick together to get what they want successfully

I have thousands of birds come to visit me daily and it is fascinating to see the various species interact and the true order of things

The Bin Chick Tip Turkeys The Ibis gets first choice, guarding the entire playing field as soldier guards keeping the smaller pretties birds out

the other birds will sit back in the trees protesting loudly while the Ibis feast, except for the beautiful king parrots and rainbow lorikeets who have much bigger balls and a high “no fucks to give” rating so eventually, their balls grow, power in numbers and they just pile on and screech, the noise echoing on and on emptily.

The rainbow lorikeets are offended at the honey eaters and the smaller scaly breasted lorikeets who are a quiet delight . In fact the rainbow lorikeets are offended at everyone and everything including themselves and quite noisily and actively defend their share and let everyone know how offended they are.

The little honeyeaters blue face and green wait patiently until its their turn and sneak in from the sides darting here and there for titbits The crow raven, she waits till later till things quieten down to pick thru the remnants at leisure

and everyone fights noisily with the noisy minor birds who come in on the tail. The topknot doves silently slip amongst the others to try stealthily steal their bit without the others noticing

Meanwhile, as everyone is so busy defending and bitching and fighting and squabbling, making a racket and pigging out feasting, the Kookaburra, who has been sitting on the fence silently watching, seemingly invisibly flies in from nowhere and steals the crown jewel from underneath them all. and as we know..

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree ..

Merry merry king of the bush is she,
Laugh Kookaburra laugh Kookaburra,
how Fae my life must be…
